Großstadtrevier – arguably one of the best-known early-evening drama series on German television. The popular series has been running on ARD since December 1986 and has become an integral part of the media landscape. Studio Hamburg Design Works was involved in the latest changes. The exterior of the ‘Neue Wache’ from series 33 onwards, complete with a courtyard featuring trees, plants and building façades, was created in our workshops and installed in Studio 3 on the Studio Hamburg site. Recreating an old brick building presented structural challenges, as it is designed to be used for filming on two floors. The exterior view of the Port of Hamburg, complete with the skyline, is achieved using projectors and a water basin.
